London Lightning & Northern Commerce Partner to Support London Humane Society

London, ON – April 26, 2017 — London Lightning sponsor Northern Commerce announced today the first National Basketball League of Canada (NBL) playoff game will be in support of the London Humane Society. The game will take place Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 7 p.m.

After dominating the regular season, the London Lightning has secured a spot in the NBL playoffs and will take on either the Orangeville A’s or Niagara River Lions in the first round. The London Lightning are now 34-5 with one game left in their regular season, and have set an NBL record for most wins in a season.

“We are excited to bring another year of playoff basketball to the city of London and we are proud to partner with organizations, like Northern and the London Humane Society, to better our community.” says Vito Frijia, owner of the London Lightning.

Northern is a proud Lightning sponsor and recognizes the importance of supporting local organizations like the London Humane Society . The “welcome to the playoffs” game will raise funds and awareness for the animal welfare organization.

“As a team we want to give back to our community,” says Michael DeLorenzi, President and CEO of Northern. “Organizations like the Humane Society play an important role in our city – we are happy to support them in any way we can.”

The London Humane Society will be accepting monetary donations at the game.

“London Humane Society is thrilled to have the London Lightning team and Northern showing the star power of our pets in waiting for ‘furever homes’. We hope a couple fans fall in love with our doggy stars.” says Judy Foster, Executive Director of the London Humane Society.

Playoff tickets go on sale on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 10 a.m. and can be purchased online or at the Budweiser Gardens box office.

Doors open at 6 p.m., tipoff is at 7 p.m.
