For several years, Northern and Digital Echidna have partnered with Fanshawe College to collaborate on educational initiatives that give students a step up in their future careers.

Following the merger between Northern and Digital Echidna, the New Northern combines the two companies’ expertise in eCommerce, digital marketing and digital experience expertise.

For students at Fanshawe College, the merger of the two companies means access to more mentors, networking opportunities, and new perspectives to learn from. Through this partnership, students receive hands-on, experiential learning opportunities from two of the best digital companies in the country.

This 8 week program, beginning the week of January 23rd, 2023, will give students access to course content and exercises through Northern's external learning management system. Additionally, students will experience 4 workshops held onsite at Northern.

Northern mentors are chosen not only for their technical expertise, but for their ability to teach others. We make sure that all of our mentors genuinely love teaching and can translate complex concepts into plain language for beginners.

This year, we’re offering students:

Courses

Drupal Web Development

The Fanshawe College Drupal web development course provides students with foundational Drupal training. Taught by Northern Certified Drupal Developers, students gain an introduction to the Drupal 9 content management system, including site building in Drupal 9, layouts, and theming. Through this program, we hope for students to gain an industry-standard learning opportunity that will give them a leg up in their future careers by learning hands-on applications that will help them gain employment upon graduation.

Digital Marketing Challenge

This two-month experiential learning competition invites teams of students enrolled in Fanshawe’s Business Administration MarketingMarketing Management, and Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Digital Marketing) to plan, implement, and manage live marketing campaigns using Google and Facebook for 16 local businesses.

Looking Ahead

We look forward to meeting this year’s cohort of students, and as Northern continues to grow, we look forward to pursuing new partnerships with other educational institutions in Southwestern Ontario.
